Miami Ad School of Graphic Design?
I'm so confused! I receive an Associate of Science in Graphic Design at Miami Dade College. No single offered for my big there. So here is my question: Should I go to Miami Ad School and build a strong portfolio? (which do not offer an undergraduate degree), but they are a very good school, her work as an advertising agency. Or should I go to FAU and get a BFA although many teachers tell me that not necessary??? However, my counselor tells me that there is much competition with singles …. AAGGHH sooo! HELP! Wow, so it was a tranquilizer CF lol …. but I'm worried about finding a work in my field. Luckily, my partner does not cost me much money.
Go to www.aiga.org and seek the position papers they have published on issues of education and preparation professional design. It describes very clearly the difference between the various degree programs and what that means. The above answer is true that we are competing with many People with a BFA – and although ultimately the quality of its portfolio is what gets a job, mostly good people go to the BFA degree. There are many good graphic design positions there, but are very competitive. I do not think going to the advertising program will be that much of a boost. Think about style rather than substance. . . . Be honest with yourself: How does your ranking compared to their classmates? If you are one of the best in class, and is really serious graphic design, would be better served by transferring to four good years of school with a graphic design program and get the good reputation four-year degree. Search for courses in typography and graphic design history. Also look for an emphasis on creating original images / Symbols / icons much more confidence in photos and images. These things are signs of a good program. Ask around. Call some of the design firms around the region and ask the managers what they think of art schools and what I recommend. People above definitely know good schools and if you let them know that you are open to further study, will be open to share their thoughts with you. Again, be honest, if you are NOT one of the top people in their partners program, possibly, you should seriously think about whether the graphic design will be the best career choice for you. In that case, you may still speak to art directors and ask them for suggestions about career options related to – working with designers rather than the designer. Again he could give advice and suggest curriculum for you. It would then have their associates degree as a basis for basic information on design and a BA that the positions perfectly for other options. You are smart to ask these questions and looking realistically at your situation. In the long run, it will help to avoid disappointment and disillusionment. Graphic design is a fantastic field, but is competitive. Do what you have to do to compete at the highest level can. Good luck.
